I agree that we desperately need media attention. No one knows our story, about people living in this country for 10-15 years legally without any GC relief.

Well your temporary license is as good as ur old license. Does it have your picture and DOB..if so then take that along..passport should be avoided as long as not necessary(to prevent it from getting lost).
This is just a letter sized paper. No pictures. Some people accept it. Some don't. Even in Florida. It didn't use to have a signature. But I guess now it does. Last time I asked them and they said it is valid and should be accepted anywhere in FL. But, try renting a car with it.
Its worse if you have to travel out of state, and rent a car. I had to travel on work and it was horrible. Every time you use your credit card they ask for photo ID.

i assume you're using cross-chargeability of your husband's country of birth.
if that is the case, swiss eb2 had current pd, so you should get your gc in 6-9months.EB-2, 485 and 140 submitted in June 2007 concurrently, RD and PD both are June 2007. I borrowed my husband's Swiss nationality. Now 140 approved, AP and EAD got, but NC is still pending.
Just curious: When will USCIS process my 485? According to my nationality or my husband's? If it's mine, god, I may have to wait for 4, 5 years because of the terrible VB backlog! There are over 1300 guests and our strength is (sadly) in our numbers. How beautiful would it be to see reduction in this number of people in different types of limbo in their life, but that would require a concerted voice of legal immigrants to cause any ripple anywhere.
Come, join in this novel and noble struggle for self-respect and fair treatment. There is no financial commitment needed, though members could contribute as they deem right and through their participation in various IV activities.

to be honest dude, for 300k, you are not going to get anything worth your while in Gaithersburg or rockville. You want the best schools - in the rockville area, that is the Wooton high school. In that school district, you will find a 30 year old town house for $325 possibly. Even thats tough to find.
If you are not particular about Wooton district, then your search area is larger. Urbana is a good bet if you dont mind the commute, but as some else posted, find a place close to work, theres no fun in commuting 1 hour up and 1 hour down each day.

The point here is that this is wrong
1. Extra cost for Immigrants, It is expensive 400 Dollars
2. There is no logic for this medicine - It makes immigrants guinea pigs for this vaccination. It is clearly a result of lobbying effforts from Pharma companies.
If We do not appose (or I should say expose) it now then u never know what all they will keep piling on in medical exams and very soon that 5% figure that u talked about will be 100%.
Also IV is for Legal Immigration for all nationals, I am sure more than 5% of IV members are getting effected.
It is highly unethical to make this vaccine mandatory for immigrants (girls in age group 11-26) and not for citizens.
Only the Pharma companies and committe members (as they must have been bribed) are gaining out of this.
It is going to bring an estimated 40 million dollar annually to Merck.
Not to mention the extra paper work for us immigrants and RFE's on medicals for people who has already completed the paper work and are waiting in the lines.
This vaccination is for ladies only and in age group 11 to 26, that really means only 5% of Indians will be effected with the wait times we have been looking at.

Hey guys, can anyone help? I�ve been disconnected from the site for a while due to personal reasons. Does anyone know approximately the following?
1- Approximate PERM processing times (from filing time) for EB2
2- Approximate I-485 and I-140 processing times from filing date for EB2
3- Approximate length of the entire process (from filing PERM to getting I-485 approved) for EB2
4- Are I-140 and I-485 still being filed concurrently?
I know there are trackers, but I find them all confusing!

Yes, I believe they were filed together - I saw a note in their web site. But why would they file 539 ? she is out of country already. Isn't I539 to extend stay only if u are already in the country ? And yes i already got an appointment in chennai. But the twist is, HR says they "informed" the attorneys to do PP. It is already 11 days and no receipt #. HR is tight lipped as to whether attorneys did infact file PP. If they did not, am i screwed ? Dont you need a receipt# atleast to bump up to PP?

Thank you !This whole thing has cost me a lot.I had to cancel the airtickets,the travel agent charged 300.00/ticket. $1500.00.I am sitting at home for 3 weeks as the vacation is not cancelled,as I can't carry it over to next year,per employer's policy.I wished I could finally go home first time,after 6 years in the US,now that is not happening anytime soon.
I suffered lot of anguish on september 30,2005 when I filed with a PERM certified labor that morning, my attorney took his sweet time to give it to FedEx, it indeed reach VSC at 7PM, so they rejected my application, as the next working day oct 3,2005, my country's PD jumped 6 years back to 11/1999 from current!I see a few cases of 485 approvals for persons who sent their forms on the same day 30/2005!
So even though I feel a lot weight off my chest as you do, it still rankles, as I was always on top of these things and even offered the attorney to be there on September 30,2005, and was willing to fly to Vermont even at the last moment, but he could not keep those packages ready to hand it to FedeEx. He did not faul to collect the fee for his NON-service anyway.
This forum is like a balm to a lot of people:)

We hear a lot about good credit.. but not a very good understanding of what it means
So is a score 670 considered to be good one? How much approx.. would be mortgage/month for $300K house. Ofcourse there are many factors but just to get a ball park free..

Mortgage Agents use the FICO score and I think 750-790 is considered a good score. The monthly payment depends on the type of loan like 30Yr fixed, 5 -1 ARM, the rate that you get and other factors.

I disagree with fee reduction. In fact I believe they should increase it and give poorer service as they always did.
AND visa/EAD terms should be reduced to 3-6 six months so that people renew more often.
Also how abt increasing the SS deductions on H1B/L1 guys? They dont need to give that back anyways. Most people even if they get GC/CITIZENSHIP will not live for more than 67?
In fact above idea will bring US out of recession.

Best is to be open about everything. PERM does not depend much on hiding facts to get approved. Ultimately, with newer checks in place, DOL or USCIS can easily find out. Best is to find out if employer needs EB2 person and can pay enough according to SOC code. Based on your qualifications and the above 2 items, you can ask employer to change your title to satisfy requirements for EB2 classification. This way everything is legal and in the open. Once you apply, no stress.....just enjoy life while you wait for GC. :)

Your case is a lil different than mine cause you did your I140 first, got online receipt that was sent with your 485. I am assuming one week later, when you had your PERM hard copy, you sent that along with other docs for your I140. I think you will be fine. You did everything right for the I140 and 485 is dependent on 140.
Me though...my lawyer sent both 140/485 together in the mail, nothing done online. and no perm hard copy was included..just the online approval ETA form, signed by me/employer, along with screen shot af DOLETA approval.
I will definitely keep you updated. I think mine will take longer than most cause on top of everything my file was sent to nebraska instead of texas....so it had/needs to be transfered to texas (NY employer).
Keep updating and if you hear about others (i'm trying to stay in touch with others in similar position), let me know...

Doing smart things like this may get you deported from the US without any chance of return for 5 years . Be honest and follow the law .It against the law to work in one country and get paid in another .
Thanks for the reply. We didn't really work. But my spouse came here in 2003 march. Then she was in vacation for next 1 year the finally resigned. Indian employer gave relieving letter in April 2004. So Practically is my spouse an employee of indian compnay until Apr 2004 and can it be shown towards the experience? That's it.

Totally agree.
