I am not sure why you are switching from valid H1B to EAD and while still working for the GC sponsoring employer.
However Employer DOES have to inform (and request cancellation) to USCIS about H1B employee no longer working for them on H1B visa. Its the law.

I am a Sep 18th rally veteran and recently visited Washington DC a few months back - in person - to lobby for some of the bills that are considered 'Hot News' today.
All this is nothing compared to what IV has given back to me as an organization. I was saved thousands of dollars due to July VB reversal. EAD helped me change jobs and leave MI in this tough economic downturn and auto companies inching toward bankruptcy. I just got my 2 year EAD today , and I thank IV for saving me hundreds of Dollars by getting EAD/AP period extended to 2 years. I don't know any other organization or person who has done so much for me. I am immensely grateful to be part of this movement.
It's my pleasure to start a volunteer group in the 'Volunteer State'. Hope we won't be short of volunteers :). It makes me nostalgic about the times MI chapter started as a group of few individuals and today boasts of 60+ members. Lets get organized here too. That's the only way to make our voices heard.
This is my promise to you - I won't ask you to do anything which I haven't done myself. And I won't force you to do anything, unless you feel that waiting for others to step up will not take you anywhere, and you feel ready to do something to help yourself and your family. As many of you have experienced, the pace of things here in general is slower than that of our home countries. Working in the project management, I often realize how hard it is to make the other party move faster when it is not involving the interest of the other side.
That is what makes me feel skeptical how much they would move, when we demand faster processing of our green card. Probably, the voice of our employer will be more effective. But is our employer losing anything from this slow process?
Even if our demand for more visa numbers is met and the retrogression problem is resolved, there is a big trap ahead waiting for us. Nobody really knows how much time it will take in the 3rd stage after all of us jump in and process our 485. It will be disastrous if it will be the same thing all over again.
It will do no good finger pointing for the lost time of ours in the past years. It does only good when we unite our voice and demand specific things to make up for the past.
Why is the green card so valuable to you? For me, it is the freedom of chaning jobs without making the new employer feel embarrassed.
If only they can allow us to submit I-485 regardless even though they can not process it until Visa number becomes current and if only they can remove the restrictions (same or similar rule) on AC-21 portability, these will save so many lives from being trapped.
These two legal changes which may be easier for the Congress, will actually make up for the lost time in our life waiting in line.
Maybe, it is time to be practical, realistic, and specific. Maybe, it is time to get smarter.

Completely agree with the point that you are trying to make here. Since the time I have been here, each year I have seen my juniors/friends come to U.S. on h1b visa/F1 visa/h4 visa., pretty excited and having a rosy picture of their future, completely unaware of the mess that we are in. This reminds me of the time when I came here few years ago, absolutely unaware of the green card backlog and the filing process. If I knew then what I know now, my life would have been completely different. Each year, thousands of Indians enter US on h1b/F1 visa, each(or atleast most) of them hoping to have a smooth transition to green card, ignorant of the terms " labor" "PD" "Retrogression" etc. when they do realize the meaning of these terms and their impact on our lives, they get a rude shock. It is unfortunate that people with PD of 2002 (in EB 3 india) are still waiting for their GC 8 long years after applying for it!!Imagine the plight of the youngsters entering U.S. now,who will apply for GC under EB 3 say in 2011 or 2012. Would it be a 25 year wait for them and are they ready for it?
I think when I came I was just worried only about my F-1. Though I later on get H1 and GC.
I think WE CAME ON NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (F1/H1/J1/L1 etc.) and WE WERE EXACTLY KNOWING OUR RIGHTS AS NON-IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICANT TO THIS COUNTRY.
I Dont think there are much issues in maintaining our NON-Immigrant visa (except you want to play the system with consultant jobs etc.)
IF WE CHANGE MIND AFTER COMING HERE(and decide to stay PERMENENTLY, totallly differnt from our ORIGINAL OBJECTIVE OF COMING HERE)that should be OUR problem.
But while coming here we were exactly knowing we are coming here JUST TO STUDY OR TO WORK. I think if you are arguing against this prior knowldge you are fooling your self.

I need some serious help with my D50 equipment. I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones. I filed on first week of feb. My 6 yrs with recapture ends in april 2011. Is it possible to go out of country some time in june 2010 and recapture more time ?

2 for the dynamic composition, 3 just cracked me up because the percussion instruments are so domineering and 4 seems pure concentration. 2 and 4 could maybe be cropped slightly, but that's very minor.

Why would anybody ask for visa to issue a driver's license? How is one's driving privilege dependent upon visa? No one has ever asked me or my wife or my friends for a visa to issue a driver's license. Is this some law specific to some states?
When did you renew your DL?
Homeland Security is getting tough these days and DMV will ask for your H1 or H4 visa or EAD.
In other words, they check for your immigration status.
There is even a "SAVE" program on other states which makes it difficult to renew. The SAVE program first verifies your immigration status with USCIS, and after being cleared, then DMV could renew your DL,

No FP Yet, July 22nd Filer. I tried CSR # few times and finally got hold of someone who was kind -enough.
According to her, there are LOT OF PEOPLE in the same boat and she recieves this phone call more than any other queries.
She said, all she can do is to request Service center for FP status but here is the glitch, Request from CSR to Service Center takes 90 days to process and count another 90 days for the response to be read by CSR and issue a new FP.
Again, she kept saying that these are just numbers from top of her head and nothing is written on stone.
Hope this helps-
