This arguement will go around and around in circles, but look, people could have been saved if the administration had not cut funds to FEMA and redirected them to the war in Iraq. If Bill could get impeached because he got head, then is it unreasonable to hold George acountable for this?

the iphone, while impressive, really isnt it. a fullscreen ipod i think woulda been nice, that with the iphone woulda earned this keynote a very high ranking.

would anyone care to explain why the uk price for a 30" cinema display is �1549 whereas in the US it is $1999 (around �1054.71) even with VAT included this still only comes to �1,239.28 - so why the huge margin...I guess it's not called rip-off Britain for nothing eh...Excluding VAT, my edu disc price is �1,213.00. I'm sorely tempted to order.

I got myslef a new 5.5gen Black 80GB for myself and a shuffle for my sister.... the discounts aren't great but aleast they're better than last year and what I saved on the iPods I used for the taxes

If it's just Disney, then there's not much point. The reason iTMS succeeded from the start was that it was simple and it had the largest library from which you could purchase single songs. I highly doubt an early 2011 verizon iphone. LTE, doubly so. If it's coming for Verizon, it will be unveiled/launch the same time as the AT&T iphone 5.

Seeing as that it doesn't have any place for the antenna (like the black area towards the top of the 3G iPad), i'm very skeptical with this picture.

There's another, much more messed up story (http://www.slashgear.com/apple-rejects-iphone-app-for-lack-of-functionality-later-releases-app-with-same-functionality-itself-06144635/) behind this app. For those too lazy to click on the link, basically Apple decided to reject a third-party app that has the same functionality as the iAd Gallery for -- get this -- "lack of functionality". Then it turns around and develops the exact same app.
If what Apple has done here doesn't demonstrate anti-competitiveness, then I don't know what does.

Yeah, already work that way... I already have all my audio collection on a centralized music server. I wouldn't mind an iPod for what it is, but I'm also not the kind of guy that enjoys listening to music through cheesy little earbuds. I can do larger DJ-style headphones in a pinch, but I prefer to listen to my music loud on a good sound system where I can feel it. And if anyone else there doesn't like it, they can just leave. :D
However, I'd like to get back into developing games for a commercial platform and I'd be all over the iPod if Apple would open up an SDK.

Fact: Verizon is not expecting LTE-capable hardware until mid-2011. There's no way Apple magically has an LTE phone ready to go while everyone else won't have one for 6 months.

Pretty funny. One question though: obviously "there's a map for that" is a play-on-words for "there's an app for that." Isn't "there's an app for that" an Apple advertisement? Why take a shot at Apple with a similar phrase when Apple has nothing to do with AT&T's network? It's a clever line in the sense that it mocks another but it seems to miss the target.

Although it's not spelled out, Gartner estimate 59 million computers were sold worldwide last quarter. Apple says they sold 1.6 million, so that makes 2.7%. This is up from 2.2% (1.2 million out of 55 million) last quarter.

Forget about paying dividends; people are making enough money on Apple stock. Apple needs to think about how to turn its $10 billion in cash into $50 billion in cash. And the way to do that is to grow. Buy up companies!!!

Many if not most financial analysts would argue that if the company is not investing their cash in future growth (and Apple decidedly is not), then they should give at least some of it back to the stockholders.
In addition to what I said above, dividends are a signal from the company that they're feeling secure about the future. Dividends, even token dividends, are a sign of maturity and stability. Hoarding cash is not.

I don't know of many people who buy a �500 iPhone outright. Most (Especially in the UK) will be on a 18-24 month contract.
If you buy it outright for �500 then it's your device with no contract. When you buy it outright it's up to you to buy a SIM and find a plan.
I run my iPhone 4 on O2's Unlimited PAYG plan, giving me free & unlimited calls and texts to other O2 users (my entire family and all friends bar one are on O2), for �15 per month. I added the web bolt on for �10 per month, which means for every �15 I top up, O2 take �10 off for my 500mb web access bolt on.
So, for �15 a month I get free calls and texts to everyone I know and 500mb of 3G internet. And best of all, I can change whenever I like because the phone is unlocked and SIM free right out the box.

Nice job guys. I don't want to shoot down the feature just yet, because you obviously put a good bit of work into coding it, but I'm not sure how well it will work long-term.
On the one hand, it will (well, should) get rid of those annoying "+1" posts. However, without actually counting towards something, it's kind of pointless. The problem is, as soon as you do make the points count towards something, (ie. hiding low-rated posts or rewarding high ones) it starts to become a competition. Being that this is a mac community, opinions against Apple will be systematically filtered out and ones in favor will be promoted to the top.
Essentially, there will be no incentive to have a discussion with differing opinions, and you will start to loose the multi-sided discussion that makes forums like this one great.

I'm fine with the cell companies charging more for tethering. I'm also fine with them doing tiered data plans. Either one of those is okay in my book. Doing both, however, is robbery.
I agree with this. AT&T at least got a little better once Verizon got the iphone by offering additional GB for the extra charge they charged for tethering so at least you actually got something for that extra money (vs. being ripped off for being charged to use the data you already paid for).
But overall, if you are paying for the actual data (paying for a set amount), it should not matter how you use it. But I could see on a "all you can eat" plan where it would matter how you use it cause some ways you'd end up using it a lot more than they planned for (basically I think it is fair in an all you can eat style plan, food or data ;), to specify rules on what you can do. I mean even in all you can eat buffets they have rules like no taking home food or you're only allowed there for an hour or you have to eat everything and not just pick out stuff otherwise it is too easily abused to the point that they wouldn't make a profit. It is the same way with data use).
