Women who shaped the land
Women's Work & Other Stories (Excerpt)
Born and raised in Kentucky, choreographer Angella Foster explores her kinship with the strong women who shaped the land and the character of her home state with their bare hands. Inspired by her grandmas stories of growing up the daughter of sharecroppers, Foster captures in Womens Work the rhythm of daily labor and explores the emotional landscape of an imagined community of women in rural Kentucky. The production premiered at the Clarice Smith Center in College Park, MD in 2009.
