This is a very good point ,if illegal under guest worker program can pursue a path to a citizenship after 6yrs provided that they can show they have paid taxes, learn English and pass background check...Why can't we ask the same for us, we have entered US legally without breaking any law, are paying taxes and are highly educated let aside learn English. And the senators have agreed about getting in line or behind the line (First in first out) approach for getting Citizenship, we are just asking for GC ;) ?

The civil surgeon does everything but you need to pay cash for it. If you have the documentation from your primary care physician, you could ask for a discount, which is what I did. Your insurance pays if you get it done from your PCP.
So, it always makes sense to get it done via PCP and then take that documentation to the Civil Surgeon. If we get a discount - great; otherwise still ok.

i havent change my wife's last name and i dont see any advantage.
trivia: we had two colleagues(wife and husband) working in our team. we never knew that they were wife & husband since their last names were different.
so there may be advantage to refer wife for jobs in your team if you have different last name!!!

Following up on my original post, NRIs flying in to India from swine flu-affected countries are not only being screened at the airports, teams of doctors are even going to their homes (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Swine-flu-reaches-India/articleshow/4465683.cms) to do additional check-ups. Another option here -
I was on H1B for about 4 years and after that on L1A via a COS for the last 1 year. (total 5 years). Currently I am on L1A with company A.
If my future employer B files for my H1B I don't have to go thru the cap/quota since I already was on an H1. I assume this is correct.
- So till the time my H1B is approved can I still be with employer A on L1A visa?
- Will moving to H1B with company B be my choice (of when I want to resign from company A and move to B) or will I be forced to join company B as soon as my H1B is approved?
- Parallel to the above company B files my GC.
Can this be done?

my lawyer missed the 2nd july deadline even when he had all the papers. Now i am asking him to meet 30th july deadline he is not responding . what are the papers needed to file I485. Can I file it without lawyers help? He does have my immunization papers

The future appears bleak and depressing considering the recent FOIA numbers which put EB3 GC wait times at approximately 8-10 years. Is there no hope at all? :(

where can I find these codes related to my present(per GC) and other jobs i'm looking around to fit in my original job designation and responsibilties?
Like the intiator in this thread came up with some job/occupation codes which starts with 15 - XXXX ..he talked abt getting it from the approved Labor
I have access to my approved Labor and I-140...but where can I find these codes in those documents?

I recently had an interview in July end at the San Francisco Office. I am hoping that there is positive movement on my case. I wonder what the process is in local offices.
1. Would it be that all the interviewed cases sent to a common pool where some one picks them up.. not sure what order they will pick up and then approves them till the numbers run out and then the cases are dumped back into the pile.
OR
2. The IO who interviewed you retains the case file in his/her office and based on the VB every month approves the cases that have completed the interview. Now if this is the case then we are at the mercy of individual IO and how organized or unorganized they personally are... wonder if they have a set procedure to follow....
lots of questions .... no answers... only silence....

i talked to my lawyer and he says you need to withdraw the old 485 and apply for new 485 using marriage. he also said that once i withdraw my 485 based on employment my EAD will be revoked too and till i dont get my EAD through marriage i can work. All this didnt make any sense to me. I think he doesnt know what is he talking.
I believe more in IV gurus....

My wife has ITIN till last year and we filed jointly. This year she has a social security number and we filed using social security number. Return was rejected by IRS saying that my wife's last year's AGI is wrong. Has anyone run into this ? What was the resolution ?
You can either mail the Tax return or put $0 for the wife's last year AGI and E file it

I would donate 500$ if I get the GC before 2012. If not I would reduce it by 50$ a year there after.
